Przeczytaj poniższe wiadomości. Z podanych odpowiedzi (a, b i c) wybierz właściwą, zgodną
z treścią poszczególnych wiadomości.

Ever since the Ministry of Education announced its plans about e-learning in schools there's been a general enthusiasm about this. In my opinion, people should not get too excited as there are many bad sides of introducing e-learning in schools. Students will be able to do their exercises when and where they want. This is supposed to be the biggest advantage, but it's not so good. This will make it much harder for students to exercise self-discipline. The result will be that we'll be doing everything very late. And how will the teacher know if a student is not copying the correct answers from their book? Or a website?

Anna

1 Anna's e-mail

a) says that all students are dishonest.

b) argues there should be no e-learning in schools.

c) criticises the school system in general.

I think most people are too optimistic about the e-learning project. We tested e-learning for two semesters in my previous school. In class we had the basic material introduced, then we did some exercises on-line and then we did the tough ones again with the teacher. We had more time for discussions and explanations from the teacher. It was OK and definitely made learning more efficient, but of course we did have to come to school every day! And I think we actually had to study a bit more than before. It's going to be like that now, but people don't understand.

Ryan

2 Ryan has written his e-mail to

a) complain about his previous school.

b) warn against the poor educational effects of e-learning.

c) share his experiences with e-learning.

E-learning in schools! Finally! That's the best thing the Ministry could do. We're living in an Internet society and schools must follow this trend. I know this will make schools completely different - and better! I just can't wait for the project to start. The only sad thing is that I'm graduating next year so I will only be taught in this wonderful way for a year.

Tom

3 Tom's school

a) is about to introduce e-learning.

b) will introduce e-learning next year.

c) has got e-learning.

3.2. Lombok

From Bali (see ch. 3.1.) we move to its eastern neighbour, Lombok. This island has fewer tourists than Bali but is also worth visiting. For many it could be a better version of Bali - precisely because it's not so crowded. The island is inhabited by the Sasak people, who number slightly above two million. Their language is similar to Balinese but their religion is different - they are Muslims. The most important locations are Mataram, the capital city, the Gili Islands and Mount Rinjani, one of the highest peaks in Indonesia.

1 Bali lies to the east of Lombok. ______

2 Lombok doesn't have as many tourists as Bali. ______

3 Mataram is the capital of Lombok. ______

4 The text comes from a tourist guide. ______

Dear Ellen,

Thanks for the photos - they're great. I couldn't write back earlier because I was at work all day. Do you remember? I applied for a part-time job. And I got one! I'm a waitress in a restaurant.

Today was my first day there. You can imagine how stressed out I was! But it wasn't bad. When I came in, the boss himself 1_____ me to Pauline and Carla, the other waitresses. They were helpful and 2_____ everything I was supposed to do. It seemed quite easy, but it isn't - believe me! You have to be quick, patient, polite of course, and you need to know the menu well. But I must say I started to like it. The job is much better than babysitting! And as 3_____ as the salary, there are tips! I have to go now, I'll write more tomorrow.

Love,

Suzanne
