Our Client a world-class supplier of synthetic polymers to industries ranging from paints and adhesives to textiles, speciality papers and plastics .Their Auxiliary Polymers Business Unit is the only manufacturer of polyvinyl alcohol in the UK, and the market leader in suspending agents for the PVC industry. In addition, they are the UK's only producer of speciality liquid polybutadienes, which find uses in a wide variety of industrial applications.
Due to a business expansion, our clients have the opportunity to create new positions in their laboratories; as a consequence we have a requirement for Senior Technologist to join our Auxiliary Polymers R&D team. The positions are based at their Head Office in Harlow, and involve working under supervision in modern, well-equipped laboratories and pilot plant. Duties will include the preparation and characterisation of novel polymers for a variety of end uses.
They are looking for candidates with excellent organisational, interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills. You will need to enjoy bench work and be eager to work in a stimulating environment. We require flexible team players who will provide a high standard of work and who can demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving results.
Applications are invited from candidates qualified with a minimum of 'A' level standard, preferably HNC level with at least 2 - 3 years experience or a minimum of 5 - 10 years with lesser qualifications.
The Senior Technologist will execute programmes of practical work, involving the preparation and testing of pressure sensitive adhesives and related products on specific Technical Service projects and in support of the R+D programme.
1. Working to broad instructions, prepare and test various classes of pressure sensitive adhesives to assist with the implementation of the Research programme.
2. Report results, observations and opinions on all technical actions to Supervisor. Provide feedback to R+D and PDD on results of application testing of development products.
3. Keep detailed written records and produce written reports as required.
4. To undertake short programmes of Technical Service work for specific customers as required.
5. To plan and execute programmes of work involving preparation and testing of Flooring Adhesives providing recommendations/reports for customers in agreement with Sales/Supervisor.
6. To assist on occasion with other Adhesives topics.
7. To maintain a good standard of housekeeping and to adhere to company Health and Safety at all times.
