Preparing for Helicopter |
Master |
Agrees position for transfer, ship course and speed with helicopter station. Helicopter approaches ship against the wind, picks up person on its starboard side. Master alters ship's course so that wind comes from two points to port. Engine to manoeuvring revs, speed 10 to 15 knots. Contacts helicopter, agrees hand signs. Agrees method and place of transfer. Best place port side aft. Illuminates place without dazzling pilot. Switches on deck lighting. Hoists flags as wind socks.
