7. The project concept of development of the urban interior in Malbork

Analysis of the research and source materials made it possible to realize the aim of this thesis. The aim was the land management of the Old Town in Malbork. The area is the historical place. Its form has been created by the surrounding residential buildings. The character of the land development of this district has not changed for over 44 years. Taking into account the features of the research area, the key element was to get acquainted with the ways of designing the housing estate. The fundamental assumptions were to combine the tradition with modernity and to find harmony between them. Juxtaposition of the present with the past highlighted the historical values of monuments located in the city center. There was designed the vegetation, which was well combined with the elements of small architecture and gave it some lightness. On the analyzed area there were created interiors well integrated with the entire system including the viewpoints. Technical design of green is based on the Local Development Plan and guidelines of heritage conservator. There were located small architecture elements to convince people to their peculiarity. The current project emphasizes the presence of the residential part, while the surface and vegetation create perfectly complement the overall concept.

8. The concept of development of the urban square in Malbork

The main assumption of the study was to develop the public space at Solna Street in Malbork. The chosen area is located in the city center near the medieval castle. For several years, the area has been used as a parking for tourists. Using the findings of the research conducted in terrain and analysis, there was prepared a conceptual design of the urban square. The main idea was to create a concept of a modern place which form does not disturb the harmony of the landscape around. Due to the location of the square, it was designed to perform representative functions for tourists and recreational activities for residents. It was decided to supplement of the small number of trees without damaging the existing view axes of the Teutonic Castle and Potter's Gate. There was designed a new entrance to the developed square from the Piłsudski Street, thus generating a new environment for the castle mock-up. When creating the concept, the LDP and the conservation guidelines were taken into consideration. All designed small architecture elements and vegetable plantings form an integral whole, encouraging to a moment of relax and admire of the Europe's largest castle of the Teutonic Knights.
