BEADED AMULET PURSES • PROJECT SIX 33
To add the fringes to the edges. Add two-bead fringes between the outside seed beads on the two long sides of the triangle and alt four edges of the square. See the photograph on page 30. Bring a new working thread out between any one of the outer edge seed beads, string two size 11° seed beads and double back through the first of the two beads (figurę 7). Take the needle through the next outer bead of the netting and string a size 6° and then a size 11° seed bead. Double back through the size 6° seed bead and pass through the next outer bead of the netting. Continue alternating the fringes around the perimeter of the square and both long sides of the triangle. After frilling the edges, you might want to go around again to add an even morę textural quality to your work.

To make the strap. Decide the ideał length for you. Temporarily tie one end of two strings around a stop bead, take both strings through a smafler and then a larger red rondel, a large red oval focal bead, a larger rondel and a smaller rondel. With only one of the strings add an 11°, a 6°, an 11°, a 6°, etc. to complete the desired length of strap. Add the finał two rondels, a large red oval focal bead and the last two rondels. Temporarily tie the string around another stop bead. Allow generous tails on both ends of the strand.
Take the second working thread through the first size 6® seed bead, create a size 11° two-bead fringe (figurę 8). Pass through the next size 6° and begin a two-bead fringe. Alternate both sizes of fringe along the fuli length of the strap. Take the thread through the second set of rondels and focal bead. Untie the stop bead and tie the two strands together with a surgeon's knot. Attach both tails of one end of the strap to the purse using several half-hitches to support the weight. Repeat on the other end of the strap.
Figurę 8. Illustration shows thread poth for strap fringe and does not show initioI thread. _
