Located one mile from the Pentagon, the building will consolidate the various departments of the Naval Systems Commands. The need for flexibility in plan for the various commands over the next 100 years suggested a footprint with large areas of uninterrupted space.

Situated on the eastern half of the 6-acre site, the project’s mass is a linear configuration composed of two bars of seven and nine stories, separated by common core elements and atria. The central portion of the site is perceived as the front lawn of the building, leading to the formal main entrance. To mitigate the impact of the project on the surrounding community, the entire western half of the site was conceived as landscaped open area.
