We’ve stitched our cushion on 10 count aida using six strands of thread to create a rustic, chunky look. For a f iner f inish, stitch your design in three strands on 14 count aida. Your finished piece will be about14cm smafler.

ONCE you've finished stitching, press your finished piece with an iron on the reverse. Trim your design, leaving 2cm of excess all the way around, Cut a piece of backing fabric to the same size. You can go for anything from a rustic linen to a funky pattern.
RIGHT sides in, pin and machinę stitch your front and backing pieces together, f lush to the stitched edge. Be surę to ieave an opening for turning. Turn right sides out, fili with stuffing or a cushion pad and slip stitch ctosed.
IF you choose to add a braided cord, tack in place along the outside seam of your cushion using smali tacking stitches in a co-ordinating coloured thread.
