The generał aim of ihe subject is to provide the medical students with alt the basie information in pharmacology ncccssaty to understand tlie actions of drugs and the clinical pharmacotherapy and to pass tlie Foreign Medical Graduate Examination in Medical Sciences. Phannacology can be deflned as tlie study of the manner in which the function of living sy stems is affected by Chemical agenis. Therefore. tlie students should be familiar with the basie knowledge of the physiological. pathophysiological and biochemical background of the phannacological and therapeutic approaches. On tlie other liand. drug tlierapy is closely relaled to the clinical aspects of diseases.
The following topics will be deall with. Definitions, prescription writing. drug development. drug formulations. General aspects of mechanisms of drug actions: characterization of dnig-receptor interactions. mechanisms of drug antagonism. signal transduclion cl of drag receptors. General and quantitative aspects of pliannacokinetics: absorption. distribution and elimination of drugs. Pharmacology of the autonomie nervous system and the respirator}' system.

Each missed seminar has to be madę up for with another group in the same week.
