Which are the radiometric errors that can be introduced due to malfunctioning of satellite
sensors?
Answer
Sensor malfunction typically leads to data absence. These gaps cannot be filled
with the real value of the radiometry, and normally some cosmetic processes
based on filtering techniques are introduced to smooth the image. For some
physical applications, remote sensing images with gaps cannot be used. Perio-
dic line dropouts, line striping, random noise are common problems of sensor
sporadic malfunction.
