STOPNIOWANIE PRZYMIOTNIKÓW

Jak w języku angielskim stopniujemy przymiotniki? Bardzo prosto, zapamiętajmy podstawowe następujące zasady

1. KRÓTKIE PRZYMIOTNIKI - dodajemy „er” w stopniu drugim oraz „the” przed przymiotnikiem a do niego dodajemy końcówkę „est” w stopniu najwyższym.

long - długi longer - dłuższy the longest - najdłuższy

young - młody younger - młodszy the youngest - najmłodszy

old - stary older - starszy the oldest - najstarszy

sweet - słodki sweeter - słodszy the sweetest - najsłodszy

tall - wysoki taller - wyższy the tallest - najwyższy

short - krótki shorter - krótszy the shortest - najkrótszy

big - duży bigger - większy the biggest - największy

easy - łatwy easier - łatwiejszy the easiest - najłatwiejszy

clever - zdolny cleverer - zdolniejszy the cleverest - najzdolniejszy

brave - dzielny braver - dzielniejszy the bravest - najdzielniejszy

The Vistula river is longer than the Mississippi river - Wisła jest dłuższa od Mississippi. (co oczywiście nie jest prawdą)

Warsaw is the biggest city in Poland - Warszawa jest największym miastem w Polsce (to akurat prawda)

My husband is the cleverest In this company - Mój mąż jest najzdolniejszy w tej firmie.

I am the youngest here - Jestem tutaj najmłodszy

2. DŁUGIE PRZYMIOTNIKI - do stopnia drugiego przed przymiotnikiem dodajemy „more” a w stopniu trzecim tylko „the most”

expensive - drogi

more expensive - droższy

the most expensive - najdroższy

difficult - trudny

more difficult - trudniejszy

the most difficult - najtrudniejszy

interesting - interesujący

more interesting - bardziej interesujący

the most interesting - najbardziej interesujący

harmful - szkodliwy

more harmful - bardziej szkodliwy

the most harmful - najbardziej szkodliwy

This car is the most expensive in the world - Ten samochód jest najdroższy na świecie

That is the most interesting article in this newspaper - To najbardziej intersujący artykuł w tej gazecie.

Smoking is more harmful than jogging - Palenie jest bardziej szkodliwe niż bieganie.

3. NIEREGULARNE PRZYMIOTNIKI

good - dobry better - lepszy the best - najlepszy

bad - zły worse - gorszy the worst - najgorszy

„You are simply the best” - Jesteś po prostu najlepszy

I swim better than you - Pływam lepiej od ciebie.

This is the worst trip in my life - To najgorsza wycieczka w moim życiu.

4. MALEJĄCE

little - mały less - mniej the least - najmniej

To jeszcze nie wszystko żeby poprawnie używać stopniowania przymiotników. Musimy również pamiętać o pewnych konstrukcjach i słówkach, które najczęściej używamy podczas stopniowania.

Najważniejsze jest tutaj: THAN oznaczające: „niż”, na przykład:

I am taller than you - jestem wyższy od ciebie

BMW is more expensive than Polonez. - BMW jest droższe od Poloneza. (niestety)

Ale także konstrukcja “as…. as….” Oznaczająca polskie „tak... jak”, na przykład:

I am as tall as you - jestem tak wysoki jak ty

My house is as big as this building - Mój dom jest tak wysoki jak ten budynek.

W stopniowaniu przymiotników są dwa generalne wyjątki od wszystkich zasad. Pierwszy z nich dotyczy „old”, normalnie stopniujemy go regularnie czyli „old - older - the oldest” aczkolwiek w przypadku kiedy mówimy o członkach rodziny to „o” zmienia się na „e” czyli „old - elder - the eldest”, na przykład:

This is my eldest sister - To jest moja najstarsza siostra.

My elder brother lives in Sweden - Mój starszy brat mieszka w Szwecji.

Ponadto, przymiotnik „far” odmienia się na dwa sposoby:

far - farther - the farthest - w odniesieniu do odległości (daleki - dalszy - najdalszy)

far - further - the furthest - w odniesieniu do kolejności (daleki - dalszy - najdalszy)

Poćwiczmy zatem stopniowanie.

Ćw 1) Wybierz poprawną formę.

1. I am (taller / more tall) than you

2. We live in a (more big / bigger) city than you.

3. Chevrolet is not (the fastest / the most fast) car in the world

4. I work (harder / more hard) than you.

5. Russian is (difficulter / more difficult) than English.

6. This is (the most beautiful / the beautifullest) picture.

9. Czy on jest przystojniejszy od mojego brata?

10. Jaguar jest tak szybki jak BMW

11. Ona nie pracuje ciężej ode mnie.

12. Mój pokój jest najcieplejszy w naszym domu

1. I am (najwyższy) in our lass

2. It is (cieplej) in May than in December

3. Days are (dłuższe) in August than in November

4. December is usually (najzimniejszym) month of a year

5. She speaks English (lepiej)

6. You speak Russian (gorzej)

7. Who is (bogatszy)? You or your father?

8. The Antarctic is (najzimniejszym) place in the world.

9. My car is (nowszy) than your Alfa Romeo

10. Hanka Bielicka is (młodsza) than Irena Kwiatkowska
