Recommondations concerning cylinder lubrication oil feed rate
adjustment
Sulzer 7RTA72U-B engine for MV "Nordpacific"
• The cylinder lubrication oil feed rate has to be adjusted to a final feed rate of 1.3-1.35
g/kWh after ~1000 running hrs. (see Service Bulletin 18.2)
• The actual setting after seatrial is: feed rate ~1.75 g/kWh, pump speed factor 1.3, pin
settings upper/lower level 5/4
• The feed rate can be adjusted later on in service as followed:
- Estimate the feed rate with the diagram (read the el. motor driving frequency from
the cylinder lubrication switchbox or measure the shaft speed by counting the pump
strokes each minute.)
- Confirm the estimated value with daily tank measurements. The daily tank
measurement is more accurate than the estimation via diagram!
- Reduce the lubrication feed rate with use of the pump speed factor:
Press "Menu" at speed governor ESG 40M
Press "S3 Parameter"
Press "0 Space" to enter the parameter number
Enter parameter number "145" and "enter"
Press "edit"
Enter Password "5126"
Change pump speed factor to desired value
Close with "enter"
- The final pump speed factor in service should be between 0.9 and 1.1!
- Measure the feed rate again with daily tank
• If the feed rate has to be set differently for one unit (e.g. after liner replacement or piston
overhaul), please adjust the pin setting for this cylinder.
