I really hate the first day of school. Each year I have to look at the same spotty faces of my school friends and sad, disillusioned teachers. I've been trying to prepare my school bag for three hours but I can't make myself do it. I know I 1____________ think like that, but I can't help it. An Italian Experience

in London

The capital of England and the United Kingdom was founded by the Romans, who called it Londinium. Now London is home to more than 7.5 million people. With more than 300 languages spoken within its boundaries, it is a leading global city. It's popular with young people who move to the city to work or experience life in the UK. Today we talk to Maria Rizzo from Le Marche in Italy about her time in London.

I came to London to study and I loved it, so I stayed. I've been here for four years now. I've been working in a clothes shop for the last three years. It isn't my ideal job - I'd like to be a teacher - but it's fine for now.

Living here hasn't always been easy, and there are things I don't like. In London there are long queues for everything, which can be frustrating. Also, it's an expensive city, so I haven't saved much money.

Still, there are many things that I love. You don't have to worry too much about what you are wearing. I love that freedom. I've also improved my English a lot and made friends with people from all over the world. I've got to try food from all over the world too - you can find restaurants of every kind in London.

What are my plans for the future? Well, I'm going to try to save up and go on a teacher training course. After that, I'm not sure. I think I'll stay for another five years, but I won't live here forever. I miss the weather in Italy and of course I miss my family.
