“Secret Window” is a suspense thriller about a famous writer accused by a strange man of stealing his book. The cast includes Johnny Depp as the writer, Mort Rainey, John Turturro as a psychotic man named John Shooter, and Maria Bello as Lynda Carlisle-an FBI secret agent.

The story takes place mostly in a remote cottage on a lake somewhere in North America and begins when John Shooter comes to the writer's home to tell him that he stole his book and demand compensation. The writer denies stealing or copying the book and so Shooter turns to violence and even murder. For the police the case looks hopeless at first, but this is only until secret agent Lynda Carlisle appears on the scene.

Although the acting is quite good at times, the film did not live up to my expectations. There is some suspense but in general the film is very slow and is not very original. I could tell what was going to happen next very easily and what would happen in the end was really not very difficult to predict.

I think this film could have been a lot better and for me it was simply a waste of an evening.
