In our society the number of criminals is really high. In many big cities and even in smaller towns it is becoming a serious problem; what to do with those who were caught. One of the ideas is to rehabilitate them in prisons. The idea has both its skeptics and enthusiasts.

The group that is against rehabilitating criminals believes it is a waste of time and money, which we must pay for them as taxes. “The criminals won't change only because we will tell them they do wrong” - say the skeptics. Following their way of thinking there are people who are good and who are bad and there is nothing we can do about it.

This is what surely doesn't work in all cases. The answer for the question why people commit crimes is not as simple as some should expect. There are a lot of psychological factors that could influence especially young people and push them to crime. The rehabilitation is a great chance for many human beings to start living normally, because it can indicate what their problem was and try to eliminate it.

All in all, I must say that there may be criminals who we won't manage to change. However, the rehabilitation is a necessary process for the whole society and yet it does not collide with keeping criminals in prison.
