Straightening Out Zipper Edges with Slip Stitches

For thc slit, just hiiuł oflf thc 2 center stitches. I hen continue rhe 2 sides separaccly, working cvcnly ovcr the same nuntber ot stitches.

Beforc vihi sew in rhe :ippor, liro straighten out thc edges with slip stitches (see drawing on pnge 7i)- To do this, pot thc yam under the work. Insen the hook betwccn rhe 2 bound-otT stitches at thc bottom of thc slit, and bring thc yam through to the top. Leave eiunigh yam to work thc row ot slip stitches on thc other sklc.

N'ow crochet the slip stitches on 1 sicie first. Insert thc cn>chet hook in-to rhe middlc of the first binding-olf stitch, front top to bottom. Bnng the yam through to the top and puli it through the loop on the hook. Kcep working thc following slip stitches through thc sckeJgc stitches, 1 or 2 rovv5 higher. Work slip stitches over the second edge the same way.

Then work a second row ot slip stitches ovcr the nrsr. lit do this, start again at thc bottom of the slit, as desenhed ahos e, and now work the slip stitches through the lulf of rhe previous ‘■lip stitches thar faces the slit.

For the inside facing. cast on 10 stitches and work in stockinette stitch for aKmt ¥*'. I hen bind off the 2 center stitches and continuc tire 2 hahe.s separatek. Pin the facing on and sew il down.

Sew in the zipper with sewing thread, going through the outer row of slip stitches.
