SAFETY FALLS
Third Fali: Basic Side Roli.
1. Feet parallel, placed shoulder-width apart, right hand on ground directly in front of you forming a triangle with your feet. Left hand placed in center of the triangle, pointing your left elbow at 45° angle to body, Photo #1.
2. Shift your weight to right hand and left foot. Raise your right foot up, causing you to lose your balance and making you start to roli over your left shoulder, Photo #2.
3. Roli over your left arm and shoulder in an ima-ginary linę from your left shoulder to your right hip, Photos #3 & 4.
4. Continue roli, falling on your right side and slapping with your right arm at 45° angle to your body. Finished position is on your right side, left foot crossed over with bottom of foot on ground, head off the ground, bottom leg straight.
Slap of hand and foot should absorb impact of fali. You will know you are falling correctly when you do not feel unpleasant jarring on this fali.
It will help you learn this fali if you will assume the correct ending position before you attempt the fali. Do this each time you practice this fali, until you can do it properly.
When mastered, these falls may be done on hard surfaces without danger of injury. The beginner must not practice falls except on mats or grass.
