To assess thread reąuirements
When working a series of repeating motifs, it saves thread, and effort, if the exact length can be wound on the shuttle each time. To assess the amount needed, wind the shuttle with a known length, work the first motif, and then measure the thread
left unused. The difference between the original length and the thread left unused is the length reąuired.
There is no need to measure in centimetres or inches; use the tradi-tional armstretch instead.
