INSTALLATION

Pack the upper and lower bearing cavities with grease.

Insert the steering stem through the steering head from the bottom.

Install the upper bearing.

Pack the uppor seal with grease.

Install the upper seal onto the steering stem.

Install the steering bearing adjustment nut and tighten it with the steering stem socket.

TORQUE: 3 N-m {0.3 kg-m, 22 ft-lb)

NOTĘ

• Tighten the nut with the steering stem pushed up.

TOOLS:

Steering stem socket    07916 — 3710100

Extension bar    07716 — 0020500

or equivalent commercially available in U.S.A.

Turn the steering stem lock-to-lock several times to seat the bearings. Repeat the bearing tightening and steering stem turning sequence two morę times.

Install the fork bridge.

Temporarily install the fork legs.

Tighten the steering stem nut.

TOROUE: 100 N-m {10.0 kg-m. 72 ft-lb)

TOOLS:

Lock nut wrench, 30 x 32 mm 07716 — 0020400

or equivalent commercially available in U.S.A. Extension bar    07716 — 0020500

or equivalent commercially avaiłable in U.S.A.

Recheck the steering stem adjustment.

Install the following parts:

-    Fork legs (page 13-17).

-    Brake hose holders.

-    Front wheel (page 13-10).

-    Side stand indicator and fuse box.

Check the steering bearing preload Ipage 13-22).
