IGNITION SYSTEM

111 CDI UNIT CONNECTORS

SYSTEM INSPECTION

NOTĘ

• Check the system components and lines step-by-step ac-cording to the troubleshooting on page 17-2.

Remove the seat (page 4-3).

Disconnect the CDI unit connectors and check the related Circuit at the wire harness side according to the following chart:

Battery power supply Circuit linę

Bl/W (+) and G (-) with the ignition switch "ON" and engine stop switch "RUN”.

Battery voltage should come.

Neutral switch

Lg/Y and body ground with the side stand switch connector disconnected.

NOTĘ

• Notę the polarity of the tester probes be-cause this Circuit has a diodę. Connect the tester negative probe to Lg/Y wire and the positive probe to ground for a positive ground ohmmeter. Reverse the tester probes when a negative ground ohmmeter is used.

There should be continuity with the transmission in neutral and no continuity with the transmission in gear.

Side stand switch

Lg/Y and body ground with the side stand diodę removed.

There should be continuity with the side stand retracted and no continuity with the side stand lowered.

IGNITION COIL

INSPECTION

111 SECONDARY COIL (WITH CAP)

I

(21 PRIMARY COIL

Remove the fuel tank (page 4-3).

Measure the primary coil resistance by checking the primary terminals.

STANDARD: 0.1-0.2 fi (20°C/68°F)

Measure the secondary coil resistance with the spark pług cap in place by checking the pług cap and green terminal.

STANDARD: 7.4-10.8 kO (20°C/68°F)
