How to ground wire relocation- By:
Today I relocated my ground wires since they looked like this( this mod has been done with an optima yellow top battery and is on a 99 mercury
cougar 2.5L v6)
sorry some of the pictures are kinda crapy I need a new camera
Well to start off first thing is first you need to disconnect your battery.
After that take off the air box/ short ram air intake. Then your fuse box
As you can see there is rust
were the ground goes
There will be three gound wires coming out of you fuse block to the metal peice your ground wires goto cut them off (2 of them are connected in the
same place)
You will need TWO 12-10 gauge ring terminals and electrical tap (your choice in color
) it should look like this
There will be a ground wire that is connected from you engine block running behind the fuse box, Take some sand paper and sand it too the metal
(thats only half done on sanding.
I replaced the bigger wire on the metal ground peice with a 5 gauge wire and 5 gauge ring termanels and (remove the metal peice)( cut your new 5
gauge wire as same as the old stock one
connect all the wires too the spot that got sanded( from the block fuse box and the 5 gauge wire should look like this
I attached the 5 gauge wire onto the negitive ground battery termanal.
put the fuse box back and tighten it down.
fit your battery back in and see if your cables will go back on properly if it looks good then tighten the clamp back down.
Hook up your positive wires then your ground wire and put your air box/ short ram back on
And thats all there is to it folks
