MATERIALS
• LION BRAND Homespun
5 skeins in #322 Baroque
• LION BRAND Size 10½ (6.5mm) knitting needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• Hook & Eye (optional)

GAUGE
12 sts and 18 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch (St st) using size 10½ (6.5mm)
needles.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

CAPE
Cast on 86 sts. Work in garter st
(k every row) as follows:
Rows 1 and 2 Knit.
Inc row 3 K15, inc 1 st in next st, k to last 16 sts, inc 1 st in next st, k15.
Row 4 Knit.
Inc row 5 Rep inc row 3.
Row 6 Knit.
Rep last 6 rows until piece measures 5 inches from beg. Cont to work inc rows 3 and 5,
but work sts between the first and last 15 garter sts in St st (k on RS, p on WS), until
there are 146 sts. Work even in garter and St st on 146 sts until piece measures 17½
inches from beg, end with a WS row.
Dec row 1 (RS) K15, k2tog, k to last 17 sts, k2tog, k15.
Row 2 K15, work in St st to last 15 sts, k15.
Dec row 3 Rep dec row 1.
Rows 4–6 Rep row 2.
Rep last 6 rows until piece measures 22 inches from beg, then work all sts in garter st
(keeping the decreases as established) until there are 86 sts. Bind off all sts on RS.

Cast on 18 sts for center piece. Work in St st for 4 rows.
Next row (RS) [K3, k2tog] 3 times, k3—15 sts. Cont in St st for 4 rows more. Bind off.
Cast on 39 sts for outer piece. Work in St st for 4 rows.
Next row (RS) K7, [k3tog, k8] twice, k3tog, k7—33 sts. Cont in St st for 3 rows more.
Next row (RS) [K7, k2tog] 3 times, k6—30 sts. Cont in St st for 3 rows more. Bind off.
Curl center piece to form center of flower and tack together (see photo). Curl outer piece
