Receptionist: Good evening. Can I help you?
Guest: Could I have a ham sandwich and a cup of coffee sent up to my room, please?
Receptionist: Of course, madam. What is your room number?

Receptionist: Certainly, madam.

Man: Morning, Mrs Smith. Do you need anything doing today?
Woman: Oh, yes, please, Fred. I've got lots of jobs for you today. The grass needs cutting and this tree's getting a bit too big. My neighbour asked me to do something about it. And put up that pink tent for my children to play in.
Man: No problem, Mrs Smith.
3
Man: Hey, you. Quiet up there!
Woman: What are you doing?
Man: The Browns are having another party upstairs. It's the third time this month. I can't sleep.
Woman: Well now you've woken me up. Go upstairs and ask them to be quiet.
Man: Oh, OK.

Woman: Welcome to one of England's most famous buildings. For hundreds of years, Kings and Queens lived here.
Man: Does anyone live here now?
Woman: No. Just the ghost of the king's last wife who died here in 1648. But the new owner wants to open a hotel with a botanical garden here. Now, please follow me…
Track 15
Journalist: Good afternoon, Mr Preston. I'm Mathew Black from Cambridge Daily. How do you feel about your school winning the best high school award for the year 2007?
Headmaster: I'm very proud of all the teachers and the students here.
Journalist: How many students are there at the school?
Headmaster: We now have nearly 850 students. This has been the most successful year ever. More students from our school went to university last year than ever before. We also offer more courses.
Journalist: What's the newest course?
Headmaster: Geology. We started the course in September and it's very popular.
Journalist: I'm sure a lot of parents would like to send their children to your school. Do you still have any places for next year?
Headmaster: Yes, but for more information please call my assistant, Ms Davies.
Journalist: Ms… sorry?
Headmaster: Ms Davies. D-A-V-I-E-S.
Journalist: What's her phone number?
Headmaster: It's 1223455677.
Track 16
When I was young, my parents worked in Jamaica. I lived there until I was 16. I didn't go to school, I had a teacher at home. Then, when I was 16, we came to America and I went to high school. It was strange. I was the cleverest student in my class but I didn't know how to make friends. They were so different to me. After my first day, I sat in my room and cried and cried. I wanted to go back to Jamaica. It wasn't better outside school. Everything was so different… the people, places, even the language. Some people couldn't understand my Jamaican English. It was awful!
Track 17
