CAKE BOARD AND CAKE
IColour 720g (1!b 7oz) of the sugarpaste (rolled fondant) cream. Roli out 25Gg (802) and cover the cake board. trimmmg excess frem around she edge. W;th the back of a knife. scraich lines over the serface to create a wood gram effect then put it aside to dry.
2Trim the crust from the cake and slice the top fiat where it has risen. Cul mto four egual squares and stack the pieces straight. one on top of the other To create the sloping roof. tnm a wedge from either stde of the iwo top layers of the cake. Sandwich the layers tegether with bultercream. then spread a thin layer over the surface to help the sugarpaste stick
MAKING THE BIROHOUSE
3 To cover the back of the cake. roli out I25g (402) of the cream sugarpaste. Indem even lines m tt using a ruler and then turn the sugarpaste over Lift the cake and place the back down onto the sugarpaste. makmg surę that the lines are vertical. and then cut around it. Tne piece should stick to the buttereream and so stay m place when the cake is put back onto its base.
4Cover the ssdes and front of the birchouse in the same way. using 250g (8oz) of the cream sugarpaste To save marking the surface with your hands. hołd the cake at the roof and at the base when you move it around. Then position the cake centrally on the cake board.
Onco the cake pieces are stacked up, cut a sloping roof and sandwich them alt togother witti buttereream.
