BEARING CLEARANCE
CAUTION:
• Do not tum crankshaft or connecting rod while the plastigage is being inserted.
• When bearing clearance exceeds the specified
limit,, make surę that a proper bearing has been installed. Then if excessive bearing clearance exists, use a thicker bearing or an undersized bearing so that the specified bearing clearance is obtained. - o- >

1. Check crankshaft journals for score, bias, wear or cracks. If faults are minor, correct with fine crocus cloth.
2. Check journals with a micrometer for taper anc out-of-round.

a. When regrinding crank pin journal, measur "L" dimension in fillet roli. Make surę that th measurements exceed the specified limit. If th measurements are within the specified limit, d not regrind it.
