MATERIALS:

Glossy ąuality crochet cotton (or use fil d'Ecosse) size 20. wliite. aboui 165 yds. Steel crochet hook US size 10 (1.00 mm) or SIZE FOR GAUGE.

GAUGE:

First three rounds measure 2 1/8" in diameter.

TO MAKE:

Ch 8 and join with sl st in First ch to form ring. RND 1: Replacing first dc with 3 ch throughout, in beg ring work (2 dc. 5 ch) 8 times; replace last 3 ch of last ch-5 Ip with 1 dc worked in top of ch-3. RNDS 2-3: Ch 1 and work following pat diagram. Join md 2 same as on md I: on rnd 3, replace last 2 ch of last ch-3 Ip with 1 hdc worked in top of ch-3. RNDS 4-19: Referto pat diagram. Form 8 outlined pineapples with a fan bet each outline as shown. Join with sl st in top of ch-3 throughout.

On md 17. for picnled cli Ips of fans work 4 ch. I sl st in first ch of ch-4 just madę and I ch to com-plete the ch lp. RND 20: Replacing first dc of first 3-dc cl with 3 ch, cont with 2-dc cl having 1 dc in each of 2 dc below. cont md as shown. for picoted cli Ips work 5 ch, 1 sl st in 2nd ch of ch-5 just madę, then finish ch Ip with 2 ch: end this rnd with 2-dc cl so as to complete the 5-dc cl that belongs there. Join with sl st in top of ch-3 and fasten off (= black wedge).
