As Mexico and Brazil were finally compcllcd to cancel their invitations, the Chairman put to vote the two remaining pro-posals.

Mr. Cummings stated that his National Committcc wished as weli to extend an invitation to the Society but retired in vie\v of the fact that for numerous members a journey to the Western Hcmisphcrc would involve too many difficulties, financial and others. Mr. Cummings presented then a motion for the British invitation.

The Chairman announeed then the results obtaincd by se-crete ballot:

9 votes in favour of Egypt 14 votes in favour of Great Britain.

The Chairman thanked the 2 delegates who had presented invitations and declared the British invitation accepted.

The Chairman passed then on to the ncxt item of the agenda: “Election of the 5 Vice-Presidents.”

The Chairman put the candidates on vote by secrete ballot. (Each delegation having one vote for the arca it covers.)

Mr. Verdeyen on behalf of Australia enąuired which Vice-President the Australian Members were to elect.

The Chairman answered that in this respect Australia was to be considered as independent and the Chairman of its National Committee should act simultaneously as Vice-President.

Mr. Peynircioglu announeed that Turkey wished to be considered as a European member, the suggestion was unanim-ously approved.

Les pays invitants sont: Le Mexique, le Bresil, 1’Egypte et la Grande-Bretagne.

Le Mexique et le Bresil renoncent finalement a leur invita-tion et le President met au vote les deux invitations restantes.

M. Cummings precise que son Comite National aurait aime proposer les Etats-Unis comme pays du prochain Congres, mais le Comite s’est vu oblige d’y renoncer vu les difficultćs que comporterait pour beaucoup de delegues un voyage en Amerique. M. Cummings est en faveur de l’invitation de la Grande-Bretagne.

Le President annonce les resultats du vote par bulletin secret:

9 voix en faveur de TEgypte 14 voix en faveur de 1’Angleterre.

Le President remercie les delegues des deux pays invitants et declare acceptee l’invitation de la Grande-Bretagne.

Le President passe ensuite au point suivant a 1’ordre du jour: «Election des 5 vice-presidcnts».

M. Verdeyen se fait le porte-parolc de TAustralie et dcmandc k quel vice-president regional celle-ci devra se rattacher.

Le Prćsident declare a ce sujet que TAustralic est a considerer comme une contree independante dont le president du Comite National exerce simultanement les fonctions de vice-president regional.

M. Peynircioglu declare quc la Turquie desire etre consideree comme pays europeen. Sa proposition est acceptee a l’una-nimite.

Le President annonce ensuite le resultat du vote:

Amerique du Sud: M. Vargas 2 voix

Sont donc elus:

M. Skempton pour 1’Europe M. Vargas pour l’Amćrique latine.

Le votc ayant donnę des resultats ex aequo pour les autres presidents, on passe a un second scrutin generał par bulletin secret.
