Shop Assistant: Hello, can I help you?
Meg: Yes. There are a few things actually. Firstly, I've lost the case for my MP3 player. Have you got any new ones?
Shop Assistant: Yes, we have red cases for five pounds, silver ones for eight pounds or just
plain black for four pounds.
Meg: Hmm ... I really like the silver one the most but I think I'll take a black one, thanks.
Shop Assistant: OK. What else can I help you with?
Meg: Well, I think there's something wrong with my headphones. The music is really quiet.
Shop Assistant: It sounds like they're broken.
Meg: Do you think I should get them repaired or buy a new pair?
Shop Assistant: Well, it would cost around thirty pounds to have them repaired whereas a new pair would only cost twenty pounds … As you can see, it doesn't really make sense to have them repaired so you'd be better off buying a new pair. The only problem is we don't keep these headphones in stock anymore so you'd have to order them.
Meg: Right, and how long would that take?
Shop Assistant: It'll only take two days to order a new pair. It would take a week to have them repaired.
Meg: Well, I think I'll get a new pair, then. … Finally, I've got a problem with my phone.
Shop Assistant: What's wrong with it?
Meg: The battery doesn't seem to last for very long. I recharge it and two hours later it needs recharging again. Would you mind having a look at it for me?
Shop Assistant: Sure, I'll see what I can do but you may need to have it replaced.
Meg: Oh dear, how much will that cost?
Shop Assistant: It'll be about twenty pounds for a new battery.
Meg: Could I buy a used battery?
Shop Assistant: Well, you could, but it would cost about fifteen pounds and we haven't got one here so it might take about three days to find one …
Meg: OK, have you got a new one here?
Shop Assistant: Yes, you're lucky. I've got an order coming this afternoon so, if you come back in two hours, I'll have a battery for your phone.
Meg: Thanks, I'll come back then.

And lastly on tonight's news comes this report. The police were called in to help save a dog that was spotted in a small wooden boat floating down the River Aire on Thursday afternoon at four o'clock. Two schoolboys saw Groucho, the dog, and tried to pull the boat to safety using tree branches. They weren't able to catch the boat so they called the police. The police found the boat downstream and swam out and pulled the dog ashore. Groucho was wearing a collar so they were able to call the owners immediately. The owners of the dog, Mr and Mrs Appletree, were delighted that their dog had been found. They said that he had disappeared from the park on Wednesday evening but the couple couldn't explain why he'd been floating down the river. The boat belongs to a local fisherman who had reported it missing. Police said the dog must have seen the boat and swum out to investigate. Local officer Franks said `He might have fancied a holiday.' Well, that's all from us. The next news bulletin is at ten o'clock.
