Track 6: Listening Test for Unit 3
[A = Ally; C = Claire]
C: Hey, Ally, I'm thinking of going to the cinema tonight. Do you want to come? We haven't been out for ages.
A: Oh, er, I can't tonight. I'm, er, busy.
C: What's that? You've had another text message? That's the fifth one in five minutes! Let me see!
A: Hey, get off!
C: `Love, Dale'. Who's Dale? Not Dale, that guy who works in the computer department? Why is he texting you? What's going on?
A: Well... er... I haven't told you yet, but I've got a new boyfriend.
C: What? Have you and Gary split up?
A: Yes. And now I'm going out with Dale.
C: Dale! I don't believe it! How long have you been going out together?
A: About three weeks.
C: You've been going out with Dale from the computer department for three weeks and you didn't tell me?
A: Well, two weeks, six days and five hours, actually. I wanted to tell you, but I just haven't found the right moment.
C: At the office party at Christmas you told me you thought Dale was arrogant, selfish and dull.
A: Yes, but that was three months ago. Since then I've got to know him better, and he's really sensitive and thoughtful. Oh, Claire, he's the man of my dreams. I think this is the real thing.
C: Does he make you laugh? He always looks so miserable. He's always frowning when I see him.
A: Well, he is quite serious. But there are more important things than a good sense of humour. He's so good looking, and he has that lovely red sports car ...
C: Oh, Ally. Are you sure you're doing the right thing?
