Track 26: Listening Test for Unit 10
[D = Doctor; M = Mr McCoy]
D: Good morning, Mr McCoy. I've got the results of your fitness test here.
M: Oh?
D: I'm afraid they aren't very good. It's quite serious. You need to make some big changes to your lifestyle immediately. If you don't, you're going to get ill.
M: W-what kind of changes?
D: Well, first you should be more physically active. Don't take your car when you go out. Go for a brisk walk, or a slow run every day.
M: I used to walk, but now I like driving - I've got a lovely car. Exercise isn't my cup of tea. I always feel ill when I run.
D: Do you smoke?
M: Yes, but only 20 a day.
D: One cigarette a day is too many. If you stop smoking, you'll feel better immediately.
M: OK, Doctor. I'll stop smoking. As soon as I get home, I'll throw my cigarettes in the bin. But I don't have time for exercise.
D: If you get up early, you can go for a walk before work.
M: I suppose so.
D: What about your diet? Do you eat healthy food, like fruit and vegetables?
M: Vegetables?
D: You know, plant food. Lettuce, spinach, tomatoes …
M: No. I can't stand vegetables, Doctor.
D: Well, If you don't like vegetables, try fruit instead. You should eat five servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
M: Five? All right.
D: Lastly, do you have a stressful lifestyle?
M: Well, I felt OK before I came here today. Now I feel really stressed.
