Our Purchase Order No. 5769F/KED

With reference to the above-mentioned order for 5,000 rubberized spindles we regret to advise you that checks have revealed that the rubber at the base of approx. 40% of the spindles is in an unsatisfactory condition. It would appear that the rubber is perished owing to storage in strong sunlight or as a result of having been left outside for a prolonged period of time. We have airmailed you a sample spindle under separate cover for you to inspect yourselves.

You will appreciate that we are unable to install the defective parts in our looms and are therefore forced to run our mili at reduced capacity. This, in tum, has caused delays in delivery for our clients, who, should the delay continue, will have no altemative but to seek an altemative source of supply.

We therefore need 2,000 replacements in perfect condition immediately and would suggest that you despatch them to us by air freight, carriage paid.

We feel obliged to point out that your handling of this matter will determine whether we will be able to continue our business relationship in futurę.

We are pleased to inform you that your DX 33 saw-blades wholly conform to our ąuality reąuirements. We should therefore like to place an order for 25 units, provided you can see your way elear to granting us a further rebate of 5% on your prices as ąuoted in the above--mentioned offer. We feel that the volume of the order we are interested in placing would justify this smali concession.

However, to enable us to import these saw-blades into India we will need to apply for an import licence from our local Government authorities and would therefore ask you to send us a pro-forma invoice to include the following details:

-    exact description of the goods

-    unit and total price with discounts

-    terms of payments and delivery CIF Calcutta

-    packing list

We would be grateful if you would send the pro-forma invoice by registered mail. As soon as we have received the import licence, we shall telex our order to you and open the L/C with our bankers.
