MAINTENANCE
Check the 8ide stand ignition cut-off system:
— Sit astride the motorcycle and raise the side stand.
— Start the engine with the transmission in neutral, then shift the transmission into gear, with the clutch lever squeezed.
— Move the side stand fully down.
— The engine should stop as the side stand is lowered.
If there is a problem with the system, check the side stand switch (section 17).
Check the action of the front suspension by compressing the fork several times.
Check the entire fork assembly for signs of leaks or damage. Replace any components which are unrepairable.
Tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified torque value (pages 1-5 and 1-6).

• Do not ride a vehicle with fan!ty suspension. Loo.se, worn or damaged suspension parts may affect stabilny and rlder con-trol.
Check the action of the rear suspension components by compressing the rear end several times.
Check the entire suspension assembly, to be surę it is securely mounted and not damaged or distorted.
Tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified torque value ipages 1-5 and 1-6).
Remove the muffler bolts and washers.
Start the engine and increase rpm's to blow carbon out of the exhaust pipę while momentarily croating exhaust system back pressure by blocking the end of the muffler with a shop towel. Repeat unitl carbon stops coming out.

• Perform this operation in a weU ventilated area, free from fire hazard.
• Use adeguate eye protection.
