Knitting needles, one pair each sizes 4, 5 and 8 mm (US 6, 8 and 11) from Schoeller + 
Stahl  
 
Stockinette stitch (St st): K on RS rows, P on WS rows. 
 
Garter st: K every row. 
 

Take time to check gauge! (Change needle size if necessary.)  

Lace Pat 1: (Gauge: double strand and size 5 mm (US 8) needles 19 sts x 23 rows, 
stretched = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”) 
(Multiple of 14 sts + 13 + 2 selvage sts) 
Work foll Chart 1. Only the RS rows are shown. Work the WS rows as P, including the yo’s. 
Work pat as foll: beg with the sts before the repeat (rep), work the rep, end with the sts after the rep. 
Work rows 1 – 24 once. 
Lace Pat 2: (Gauge: single strand with 4 mm (US 6) needles, 20 sts x 30 rows, stretched = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”) 
(Multiple of 28 sts + 13 + 2 selvage sts) 
Only the RS rows are shown. Work the WS rows as P, including the yo’s. 
Work pat as foll: beg with the sts before the repeat (rep), work the rep, end with the sts after the rep. 
Rep rows 1 – 12.   
Stripe Pattern:  
Row 1 (= WS): K all sts with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles.  
Row 2 (= RS): K all sts with double strand and 8 mm (US 11) needles. 
Rep rows 1 and 2 four times. 
K 1 row (= WS) with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles. 
Work 2 rows in St st with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles. 
Work 24 rows in Lace Pat 1 with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles. 
Work 1 row in St st with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles.  
Rep rows 1 and 2 four times.  
K 1 row (= WS) with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles. 
*Work 30 rows St st with single strand and 4 mm (US 6) needles, 60 rows Lace Pat 2 with  
single strand and 4 mm (US 6) needles. Rep from * 4 times.  
Work 30 rows St st with single strand and 4 mm (US 6) needles. 
Rep rows 1 and 2 four times. 
K 1 row (= WS) with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles.                                   
Work 24 rows Lace Pat with 1 double strand and 5 mm (US 8) 
needles. Work 2 rows St st with double strand and 5 mm (US 8)

K 1 row (= WS) with double strand and 5 mm (US 8) needles. 
Instructions:  
With 5 mm (US 8) needles and double strand, cast on 127 sts and work all rows of Stripe Pat. 
After 165 cm/65” from beg, bind off all sts. 
Finishing: 
Pin stole to 65 x 165 cm/25 ½ x 63”, dampen and let dry.
