4    He is certain that he will discover in each village a Romanesque church or walls from a medieval castle.

5    Even if the family isn t extremely large, each person wants something different,

6    so choosing becomes a difficult problem.

OPMERKINGEN

(1)    Gaan is often omitted after moelen, kunnen, willen and mogen. Nu moet u naar de dokter: Now you must [go] to the doctor.

(2)    Het gezin is the family in the narrow sense (husband, wite, and children), others being included only if they live in the same house. De familie (which can mean gezin) usually means the family in the broad sense (also grand-parents, grand-children, uncles. aunts, couslns, etc.).

(3)    Lastig: burdensome. Dat kind is nogal lastig: That child is rather difficult. Hij heeft een lastig karakter: He has an irksome personality. Ais ze haar zin niet krijgt, wordt ze lastig: If she doesn't get her way, she becomes difficult.
