(2)    Om te: in order lo. In English in order' is often assumed and omitted. Om. however. may not be omitted. Any objects of the infinitive are placed between om and te. Ze neemt de bus om naar huis te gaan: She takes the bus (in order) to go home. Ik heb geen geld om een wagen te kopen: I have no money (in order) to buy a car.

(3)    Steeds: continually, always; steeds meer: increasingly, morę and morę. Het leven wordt steeds duurder: Life gets morę and morę expensive. Dat wordt steeds moeilijker: Thats becoming morę and morę difficult.

(4)    Past tense of krijgen (get). an irregular verb, The past tense is formed by a vowel change rather than by adding -de or -te. Since there are no rules for irregular verbs, a few of them will be listed in each lesson.

(5)    The past participle of an irregular verb often has a vowel change as well, but not necessarily the same one. This past participle doesn't have a ge- prefix because the verb starts with be-.

(7)    Toen is only used with the past tense. As an adverb it means then' and is used for a single occurance of action. Dan may be used with the past tence only for repeated action.
