CANYAS
♦ Cut the canvas in a 35.5 cm (14 in) square. This allows 5 cm (2 in) border. Bind the edges.
♦ Within the canvas outline a 30 cm (12 in) sąuare with a waterproof marker. From each corner draw a diagonal linę, the center point being where these lines cross. With a white thread (later removed), stitch over these lines.
♦ Spray paint the canvas medium blue to unify any color showing through.
FOLLOWING THE CHART
♦ Each chart shows the basie design for this four-way bargello, to be repeated as necessary.
(one ąuarter of the design), stitching into the holes of the white threads. Rotate each section 90 degrees so the base linę forms the horizontal rows to be stitched. The white thread represents a mitred corner -see Stitching, page 138.
♦ Use Madeira Decora doubled.
♦ When the sections are finished, fili in smali stitches where needed, then stitch the border.
♦ On a separate canvas stitch the base pattern, primarily one horizontal row that is followed accordingly, with the border being stitched last.
